SUMMARY:Summer Exhibition Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Engage with visiting artists and fellow arts advocates\, enjoy live music and refreshments\, and discover the exciting exhibitions showcased across six galleries by local\, regional\, national and international artists. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Community Contours in the Southern Appalachian Mountains: Jill Pelto\n \n \n \n \n \n June 5 – November 7\, 2026Mayer Gallery \nJill Pelto’s experience as an artist and climate scientist shapes her paintings\, which incorporate environmental narratives and science data. To start untangling the complexities of local and global trends\, she visualizes connections between environmental change and human action. Through color\, pattern\, and perspective\, her goal is to provide unexpected opportunities for people to personally engage science through observation\, reflection\, and dialogue.  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Sofie Hecht\, Untitled (Cows) \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Stitching the Natural World: Nancy Hershberger\n \n \n \n \n \n June 5 – November 21\, 2026Bickers Gallery \nAs an art quilter\, Nancy Herschberger’s practice is rooted in a deep reverence for materials and a passion for the landscape. Drawn to the tactile nature of fabric\, where each stitch and layer holds the possibility of evoking emotion and memory\, she is captivated by the subtle interplay of light and shadow\, the silent language of color\, and the narratives hidden in ordinary moments. Working with textiles allows Herschberger to bridge tradition and innovation\, transforming familiar fibers into visual narratives that invite contemplation and connection. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Doc Watson at Deep Gap\, N.C.\, 1962\, by John Cohen \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Accommodations\nApp State is committed to providing an inclusive experience for individuals with disabilities.
